They're up there with Sharon Jones' Dap Kings in the danceability, authenticity and cool stakes and - oh ok, if you insist we go there - bandleader Lance Ferguson (aka production wunderkind Lanu) rivals Mark Ronson in the categories of 'busiest man in funk' and 'crossover cover version genius'... not to mention that all important tie-breaker, 'pop star looks'. The Bamboos' previous albums have each sold in excess of 20,000 copies.
Their Kings Of Leon cover last year scored the XFM 'X-Posure Hot One' accolade, 6 Music daytime play + 150,000 YouTube hits. Their knack for attention-grabbing singles continues with the first single from '4'; the amazing video for "On The Sly" has already amassed 12,000+ YouTube hits and this demand is reflected in major radio support.
Vocalist Kylie Auldist, a rising star in her own right, has recently released a single featuring Ashley Beedle. On '4' she delivers her most virtuoso vocal performances to date. '4' also features big-selling independent US rapper Lyrics Born on "Turn It Up"; and the elusive Tongan King Merc on upcoming second single, the incredibly catchy Phil Spector-meets-Gnarls Barkley-meets-Mayer Hawthorne-esque "Ain't No Good".
