Clockwatching//Mirror In The Bathroom

A 2 track trip-hop single (7m 38s) — released August 23rd 2010 on Tru Thoughts

First single from London trio Belleruche's heavily anticipated third album, '270 Stories'. The video is currently 'Video Of The Week' on Nemone's BBC 6Music lunchtime show (w/c 5 July), accessible on the BBC 6Music website; Belleruche were interviewed on the show on Monday 5th. The B side on the 7" is an inspired electronic version of the Beat's classic, "Mirror In The Bathroom", which came about when Belleruche were asked to do a cover version for a live session on Virgin Radio in France, and it proved so popular that it demanded a vinyl release. With 30,000 album sales under their belt, Belleruche are on the brink of stardom. Over the course of their two previous LPs, 'Turntable Soul Music' and 'The Express', plus a busy schedule of gigs, they have built up a strong fanbase all over the world and their unique sound has gained them accolades in the UK, with two iTunes Single Of The Week tracks in France and UK, a Clash magazine Single of the Week, daytime BBC 6 Music play and radio sessions for Mark Lamarr (BBC Radio 2) among others. They have also opened for Fat Freddys Drop and De La Soul. With driving drums and chasing bass, off kilter bleeps and doo wop vocals, the new style of "Clockwatching" ties together the Belleruche sound that we know and love, with the fresh addition of layered harmonies from singer Kathrin deBoer, skirting the line between sugary and spiky, and melodic interplay between vocals and bass for a dynamic take on a classic song form. "Video of the Week…excellent" - Nemone (BBC 6Music) "As expected, it is a wonder!" – Laurent Garnier "Clockwatching is absolutely wicked...totally blown away!" – Ashley Beedle (Mavis/X-Press 2/Ministry Of Sound radio)
